From time to time, the SCAA will offer Workshop Events for members to expand on their artistic techniques. Special workshop events will be planned throughout the upcoming months. At times we will also feature workshops being offered by other groups.

Mindful Mixed Media & Collage Workshop with Kathy Leader
 
The focus of this workshop will be on creating balanced, less cluttered abstract compositions using altered papers, collage materials and paint. 

We will start with a guided meditation to help us mindfully enter the art process without prejudgments! Collage materials and art paper to be provided. Here is the rest of the art supplies list for participants to be bring:
( Per Kathy," if you do not have all of the materials below, do NOT worry!"
Easy substitutes will work. )

*              2 sheets of watercolor/bristol paper (at least 11"x14”) -some to be provided.

 *      Notebook or journal to take notes, pencil  
*      Large (at least 11”x14”) Firm substrate to glue onto: Illustration board or wood panel is best(no canvas) 
*              cardboard (prepare board with gesso if possible) 
*              Brushes (various widths) 
*              Acrylic paint assortment (including black & white)
*              Water, rags/paper towels 
*              Palette paper

*      Q-tips 
*              Matte or gel medium/glue for pasting ( I like the Utrecht brand from Blick but any will do)
*              Scissors

*              Old credit card 
This workshop is conducted under the SCAA grant(solar verebiage)… and is offered free to the public. The first twenty five registrations will be accepted and the last 5 will be on reserve or back-up. Below is the registration form. There will be an email announcement of participants to be sent as soon as complete.
