A packed gallery for Freshly Squeezed: Citrus Summer

The SCAA Gallery on 6th Street was bursting with vibrant color and high community energy on Saturday, June 20th, as we hosted our official public opening reception for Freshly Squeezed: Citrus Summer! 

Attracting a crowd of close to 100 local residents, collectors, and art patrons, the evening served as a spectacular, sun-kissed celebration of local summer fine arts! 

• Opening Weekend: Our talented artists generated over $800 in fine art and gift sales!
• Media Spotlight: SCAA was thrilled to welcome journalists from The Signal, who came out to capture the atmosphere and feature our historic arts district footprint.
• The People's Choice Winner: Guests cast their ballots for the People's Choice Best in Show award. A massive congratulations goes to artist Kristen Baladi-Genneken, whose brilliant original piece, 'Stay Wavy' – a masterfully crafted mini surfboard – stole the hearts of the crowd and secured the title!

Citrus Flavors, Live Beats, and Interactive Artistry
To immerse our guests fully into the festive summer theme, our volunteers curated a beautiful spread of citrus-themed snacks, sweet Cutie oranges, and refreshing cold drinks, including lemonade and zesty citrus sparkling waters. The theme was so contagious that many of our attendees and artists even arrived dressed in bright, coordinating citrus colors!

The gallery courtyard came alive with entertainment and hands-on creative demonstrations:

• Live Music by Everyday People: The band kept the atmosphere upbeat and festive, providing the perfect soundtrack for art lovers strolling through the exhibit.
• Mixed Media Masterclass: Artist Gloria Cassidy offered a captivating demonstration, sharing her techniques for constructing complex mixed-media collages using Gelli plate printmaking.
• Interactive Jewelry Station: Our tech volunteer, Charlotte Mullich, hosted an interactive charm bracelet-making station, where guests of all ages spent the evening hand-crafting personalized jewelry keepsakes.

We are proud to welcome several brand-new SCAA members who exhibited original fine art for the very first time during this showcase.

A massive, heartfelt thank you goes out to our tireless volunteers, our local press partners, and every patron who came out to invest in local fine art.
