The Santa Clarita Artists Association is thrilled to celebrate an extraordinary international achievement! Our very own SCAA member, Jennifer Tang Limon, recently traveled across the globe to represent Team USA and compete in the prestigious 7th International Weaving Competition in Nowy Tomyśl, Poland A High-Stakes Global Showcase Held as a core centerpiece of the 6th World Wicker and Weaving Festival, this massive international event brought together elite fiber creators from 66 countries to showcase the pinnacle of woven art. The competitive stakes were incredibly intense: artists were given a strict 12-hour limit spread over just two days to weave their entire submission live on the festival floor. Working tirelessly alongside a dedicated 11-person delegation—including 6 fierce competitors representing Team USA—Jennifer's exceptional craftsmanship caught the eyes of the international judging panel. Jennifer was formally honored with a coveted Distinction Award for her breathtaking submission, “Sequoia.”
In Jennifer’s Words: "I am so deeply honored to be selected for a Distinction Award among such incredible global talent," Jennifer shares. "My piece was directly inspired by the world's largest living trees, the Giant Sequoias. Hand-woven using fine waxed linen thread and polished cotton cord, this sculpture represents the very first installment in a brand-new series of trees I have been dreaming of weaving. Now, that creative dream has officially become a reality." Please join the SCAA Board and our entire local arts community in sending a massive congratulations to Jennifer on this spectacular global win! Thank you for beautifully carrying the spirit of Santa Clarita creativity onto the international stage. Follow more of Jennifer's weaving adventures at @jentanglimon
