From August 1st–31st, 2026, this local exhibition offers our community an immersive look into the explosive color and abstract storytelling of SCAA member Stella Rowe at the Canyon Theatre Guild. SCAA is thrilled to announce our talented member artist, Stella Rowe, as the featured solo exhibitor for the month of August at the Canyon Theatre Guild lobby gallery in Old Town Newhall.
About the Artist & Creative Process
Born in Halifax in Yorkshire, England, Stella Rowe’s rigorous creative path began at the age of 16, when she attended the Halifax School of Art to complete an intensive two-year Foundation Course in Art and Design. Her exceptional talent earned her a full academic scholarship to the North Staffordshire Polytechnic in Stoke-on-Trent, where she pursued three years of rigorous, full-time study. This specialized multidisciplinary course was modeled directly after the historic philosophy of the famous Bauhaus School in Weimar, Germany, providing Stella with a deep, comprehensive mastery across Graphic Design, Fine Art, and Ceramics. She ultimately graduated with a prestigious B.A. Honors degree specializing in Illustration, Textiles, and Photography. After relocating to Southern California, Stella channeled her extensive training into the commercial art landscape, working professionally in high-level corporate Design, Promotion, and Marketing for several prominent companies across Los Angeles. Deeply passionate about fostering the next generation of creators, she also dedicated many years of her career as an art educator, teaching within various private schools throughout Southern California. Driven by a lifelong, unshakeable love for painting and drawing, Stella’s upcoming solo showcase at the Canyon Theatre Guild will feature a breathtaking, eclectic collection of subjects ranging from intricate birds and serene Buddhas to surreal aliens and dynamic abstract creations. Embracing a vibrant, sun-kissed command of raw pigment, she considers herself a Nouveau Fauvist, channeling the rule-breaking spirit, emotional color theory, and bold brushwork of historic masters like Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy.
