Community, Creativity, and Crowds: SCAA Celebrates Historic Success at the Old Town Newhall ArtWalk5/16/2026 The Santa Clarita Artists Association (SCAA) Gallery was absolutely buzzing with creative energy on Saturday, May 16th, as we proudly served as an official featured stop for the annual Old Town Newhall ArtWalk! This spectacular, walkable celebration of local culture brought our historic 6th Street neighborhood to life, drawing an incredible crowd of residents, collectors, and brand-new audiences through our doors. The afternoon was a historic milestone for our association, charting an extraordinary level of community engagement and visual art sales:
Leadership in Action & Collaborative Clay Art
An immense, heartfelt thank you goes out to our brilliant member leaders--Jane Mick, Lorrie Bubb, and Karina Medina—who expertly oversaw the logistics, volunteer schedules, and artisan booths to make the entire day run flawlessly, with the help of our Logistics Chair, Howard Marcovitch! In a major highlight of the afternoon, Lorrie Bubb hosted a spectacular, interactive ceramics station right outside the gallery. Throughout the ArtWalk, gallery visitors were invited to get their hands dirty and hand-build individual pieces of a collaborative clay project. Lorrie is currently weaving these community-made elements together into a stunning, professional mosaic piece. Once completed, this incredible work of shared local history will be formally donated as a featured prize for our Annual Art Classic Silent Auction this coming October! Patrons and members will be able to view and place secure bids on this masterpiece to help fund our high school art scholarship programs. We are deeply grateful to the Old Town Newhall Association, Arts for Santa Clarita, city, our neighbors, and our incredible volunteers for including us in this landmark cultural walk. SCAA is proud to remain the beating heart of fine art in the Santa Clarita Valley!
