Burgers, Sunshine, and Watermelon Art: SCAA Celebrates Friendship and Fun at the Annual Summer Barbecue

There is something truly magical about gathering together to connect, laugh, and share stories outside of the studio! SCAA member artists did exactly that as we kicked back for our highly anticipated Annual SCAA Summer Barbecue, on June 14th. It was an absolutely beautiful day of laughter, sunshine, and pure creative camaraderie that reminded us all why our community is so special.

A spectacular, heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible hosts and coordinators who made the afternoon run flawlessly:

• The Perfect Host: A massive thank you to Laurie Morgan for generously opening her beautiful home and backyard to welcome our massive creative family.
• The Master of the Grill: Gratitude goes out to Howard Marcovitch for expertly spearheading the grilling logistics and keeping everyone beautifully fed throughout the day.
• A Potluck Feast: Our incredible members brought a breathtaking spread of fresh, delicious homemade dishes, sides, and summer desserts to share around the tables.

The Star of the Show: Watermelon Masterpieces
While the afternoon was packed with incredible conversations and shared memories, the absolute visual star of the food pavilion was an extraordinary, beautifully hand-carved watermelon created by the talented Jennifer Tang Limon! Carved with immaculate precision to read "I ❤️ Art", Jennifer’s stunning edible sculpture served as the perfect creative centerpiece for our summer gathering.

SCAA runs entirely on the passion of its incredible volunteers, and while there are far too many names to list, we are deeply grateful to everyone who stepped up to carry coolers, set up tables, and clean up the grounds.
