SHOW PROSPECTUS Artist’s Choice: Open subject. Show us your signature style! How do you MOST identify as an artist and how do you want to be known? This can be through technique, medium, color palette, or subject matter highlighting your unique voice. Look to your past or present artwork for clues into your signature style. If you feel you don’t have one, this is a great time to revisit past favorite work and explore where your art is going or where you’d like it to go.
About Signature You: Art submitted should be cohesive, forming a mini body of work with shared characteristics that showcase one signature style or “look”. All mediums encouraged.

Note: SCAA exhibits are for all ages and follow basic community standards of respect, unity, and inclusion to create a welcoming environment for the general public. Work that is controversial or divisive, including nudity, strong language, and prejudiced religious or political themes, will not be considered. All work should be original and void of copyright or trademark infringement. Acceptance is at the discretion of the Gallery Chair and/or Art Selection Committee. All decisions are final.

By submitting your art work to the SCAA Gallery Show, the artist acknowledges that they have read and understand the Gallery Guidelines.
SCAA GALLERY strives to highlight local artists in all stages of their artistic journeys and offers space for artist members to display original fine art for sale within Santa Clarita Valley. PLEASE READ the following Gallery Guidelines before entering the show:
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Artist must be a member of the Santa Clarita Artists Association (SCAA).
Accepted artist agrees to pay an entry fee of $15, to be collected upon art delivery.
All accepted art must be for sale. The SCAA gallery retains 25% of all gallery show sales.
Artist is responsible for insuring their artwork, if they so choose.
Artist must agree to the possibility of SCAA using images of their accepted art for promo materials, without compensation. Artist’s name will be included with the image.
WALL ART:
Must be framed OR a 1 ½” deep gallery-wrapped canvas with painted edges.
Must be wired for hanging (Sawtooth picture hangers are not allowed).
Frames must be good quality without scratches or dents.
Must be labeled on the back with title and artist’s name.
Art on unique substrates or odd shapes, including wall sculptures, will be considered on an individual basis.
Accepted artists may bring any of the following: Prints/Originals, Greeting Cards, Tabletop Art, Gift Items, Business Cards, other Promo Materials, and Additional Art (See below for details and requirements).
PRINTS/ORIGINALS FOR ART RACK:
Accepted artists may bring up to five (5) prints or original art, no more than 1/3” thick for the art rack.
Art must be backed, in clear protective sheets, and clearly labeled as a print or original with artist’s name and price. Certificates of Authenticity are highly recommended.
GREETING CARDS FOR CARD RACK:
Accepted artists may bring up to fifteen (15) greeting or notecards for the Card Rack. Cards may be no bigger than 5” x 7”.
Cards must be individually wrapped in clear protective sheets and clearly labeled with artist’s name and price.
TABLETOP ART and GIFT ITEMS:
Accepted artists may bring up to four (4) pieces of tabletop art or gift items, no taller than 12”.
All original tabletop art should be framed, a gallery-wrapped canvas with painted edges, or if it’s any other substrate, must have finished edges.
Gift items may be individual artistic products, such as jewelry, sets of notecards, or small baskets (provided by artists) of multiple similar items. Jewelry will be accepted in the order of submission to each show. Limited to four (4) artists maximum – one shelf each at 15”w x 13”d x 15”h in the glass display cabinet.
All items must be clearly labeled with artist’s name and price.
BUSINESS CARDS AND OTHER PROMO MATERIALS:
Accepted artists may bring 15-20 business cards measuring no more than 2” x 3.5”, either vertically or horizontally, to display during the duration of the show.
Fifteen (15) postcards (maximum size of 5” x 7”) for outside art shows in which the artist is participating may be displayed. No other long-term promo materials are permitted.
ADDITIONAL ART:
When hosting, artist may bring one (1) additional original artwork to be displayed on a SCAA easel (there are two (2) SCAA easels: one (1) for each host). (Artists may bring two (2) additional pieces, if providing their own double easel). Or they may bring five (5) small artworks or gift items to be displayed on the middle or bottom shelf of the glass shelving, pending space available.
All Additional Art must be taken home at the end of the hosting shift.
No existing artwork may be moved to display the Additional Art.
HOSTING:
Each accepted artist is responsible and agrees to host the Gallery for four (4), three (3) hour shifts over the duration of the show. This may vary depending on the number of participating artists.
If the hosting artist cannot host their required shift, they agree to find a replacement SCAA member host.
Any accepted artist, in a non-emergency situation, who does NOT fulfill their hosting requirement, will be ineligible to participate in the next SCAA Gallery show.
All written gallery procedures contained in the white binder on the desk are to be followed.
Much time and effort goes into curating the shows. Please do not move the art.
CREATING ART WHILE HOSTING:
A hosting artist may use the Gallery’s four (4)’ table to work on artwork. This table should only be set up near the desk or outside the Gallery, never in the middle of the room.
Any medium with an odor should not be used inside the Gallery. Artists can set up outside of the Gallery with their hosting partner’s permission.
Artists must take care to avoid spills or splatters. The cleanup of any spills will be the responsibility of the artist.
GALLERY ART SALES:
The SCAA retains 25% of all gallery show sales. Transactions are executed via Square. Directions are in the white binder on the desk.
Hosting artist should always notify a fellow artist immediately if their piece sells. Contact information for each artist is in the white binder on the desk.
When a piece of art sells, the artist who created it may bring in a replacement piece of equal size and must fit within the shows theme.
