Art brings us together, and our monthly General Meetings are the heart of our creative community!

​Whether you are a master painter, a beginner exploring a new medium, or simply an art lover, everyone is welcome to attend. You do not need to be an SCAA member to join us — bring a friend and share in the inspiration!

Danny Folkman is a signature member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and a mentor artist with the California Art Club. Raised in New Jersey, he was drawn to California’s varied landscapes, year-round sunshine, and relaxed lifestyle. After moving here, he was immediately smitten.

SCAA is thrilled to offer this opportunity for a live technical demonstration for artists in Santa Clarita to explore the rich, opaque, and highly versatile world of gouache landscape painting.

​Learn to control quick-drying opaque layers, build structured values, and translate complex outdoor scenery into bold, clean compositions with this master gouache artist of the West Coast.

MEETING DETAILS

• 3rd Monday of every month from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
• Newhall Library Community Room (24500 Main St, Santa Clarita, CA 91321).
• Doors open at 5:30 for conversation and connection!
• Please note: We do not meet in June or December due to our annual member BBQ and holiday party. There are occasions that our meeting date may change due to library scheduling. Updates will be noted below and sent to our newsletter list in our weekly reminder emails.

All 2D and 3D creators are warmly encouraged to attend.
​While painting is a large part of our community, the core principles of design, color theory, creativity, and artistic inspiration cross all boundaries and apply to every creative practice. Whether you work in clay, digital media, glass, textiles, sculpture, fiber arts, photography, paint, or other creative media, your unique voice belongs here.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We keep our official business short so we can focus on the art! We kick off each meeting with 10–15 minutes of quick SCAA community annoucements and upcoming opportunities.

The rest of our evening is dedicated entirely to a live, educational demonstration by a professional guest artist. Our meetings are hosted in a casual, warm, and encouraging environment where it is entirely safe to ask questions and learn. Most featured artists prefer an interactive experience and welcome your questions during the demo!

Come for the education, stay for the artist connection, and you might even get lucky—many of our guest artists generously raffle off a painting or a print at the end of the night!
