Sharon Weaver
www.sharonweaver.com Sharon grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania where the winters were cold and monotone. After finishing a Fashion Design degree at Parsons School of Design, Sharon worked in the garment industry as a designer and merchandiser. Moving to California was a turning point for Sharon. Seeing for herself the country that inspired the California Impressionists opened her eyes to the beauty of the landscape. After studying with Karl Dempwolf, Sharon dedicated all her time to plein air painting. It paid off when she was juried into the prestigious Carmel Art Festival. Today, Sharon’s art combines her understanding of nature with her exceptional drawing skills to create unforgettable images. The bold and unique colors in her work, much like the California Impressionists who first inspired her, are a feast for the eyes and touch the soul. Since 2011, Sharon has been doing demonstrations, workshops and art talks throughout the southern California area, promoting representational art. Sharon was awarded the Southwest Art Magazine Award of Excellence at the 112th California Art Club Gold Medal Exhibition at the Bowers Museum. In addition, she was juried into the Oil Painters of America 20th Annual National Exhibition and also the AWA 2021 National Exhibition. She is an award winner at the Carmel Art Festival and a founding member of PAC6 Painters; a group dedicated to painting the beauty and grandeur of the American landscape. Two museum exhibitions and several gallery shows were the result of a pack trip into the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Her art was featured in the February-March 2017 issue of Plein Air Magazine with an article, "Breaking Through Walls of Dissatisfaction," and she was invited to the San Dimas Art Festival where she was awarded the Bronze Medal for her work. Sharon teaches an ongoing studio landscape class with Kline Academy of Fine Art and once a month a plein air class on location in the Los Angeles area. |
Debra Holladay
https://www.debraholladay.net/ A lifelong painter and native Californian, Debra works both in the studio and en plein air, painting throughout the region. Recent painting adventures include a pack trip to Lake Ediza in the Eastern Sierras, and trips to Yosemite National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, and Bishop, California. Her paintings capture the fleeting light, subjects, and events that often, on closer inspection, reward the viewer with small details often overlooked by the casual observer. Highly collectible, Debra's work is frequently included in juried museum and themed gallery exhibitions and invitational shows. Debra’s art career began at age two with a tube of red lipstick and her cooperative dog, followed by a crayon wall mural unsuccessfully hidden behind a chest of drawers. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Advertising Design, she moved to New York City where she studied portrait and figure painting in oils for six years at the Art Student’s League of New York. In addition, she studied en plein air for three summers in Central Park. Debra painted regularly en plein air in Prospect Park, Brooklyn until returning to Southern California in 1996. |
