I started painting for something to occupy
my time when my son went to Japan to do voiceover work. I had never painted
before so I bought some watercolors and placed them on my desk. I looked
at them every day trying to figure
out what I was going to do with them. After reading some art books and learning
about paper choices, brushes, and so forth
I just jumped in one day by painting objects around my home. Since then I have
worked in acrylics, ink, oil, pastels, colored pencils and everything else I can
put my imagine to. I love doing collages and adding paint to make a picture come
to life. Later I started purchasing pieces of antique jade from China and other parts of Asia to make necklaces
with the jade being the center point of each piece. In my jewelry, as in my
paintings, I love to use things that would not necessarily go together and work
them into a piece of art that is both pleasing to the eye and unique. Being that
the point of the journey is not to arrive, I continue to experiment with new
ideas and exploring new concepts. Who knows, someday I may find myself someday
working in clay or metal. That's the fun of it all.
