I began taking art classes of all sorts, first when I was
pursuing a bachelors degree in Education at Oklahoma State. Then
after following my active duty Air Force husband, Ted, all around
the world, I sought out more education while he was off on remote
assignments.
Dressmaking, tailoring then Rosemaling, Tole Painting, classic oil
and watercolor mixed media and photography were the areas I pursued.
I got up the courage to enter exhibits and was rewarded with a few
awards. I have had the privilege to be one of the first members of
Santa Clarita Valley Artists' Association in 1989. I have been a
member every year since I entered the first Art Classic, have served
on the board several years since 1990. I still try to help when and
where I can.
I became a signature artist with Valley Watercolor Society several
years ago.
Though I still love to paint landscapes and still life, I have
taken on the challenge of subjects involving our children and
grandchildren and their favorite activities. My style is constantly
evolving.
I have studied with Lorelle Miller, Glen Knowles, Mary Lou Carraher
lacally , and Tom Lynch, Tony Couch, Gerald Brommer, Carol O’Connor,
Rea Nagle, Pong Apinyavat, and other artists . I plan to continue to
take workshops and classes from artists that inspire me.
